The Synopsis

First dates.
Last texts.
Loud
disappointment.

Nick's love life is a loop of first dates, last texts, and loud disappointment. As a bigger gay man, he's learned to laugh off rejection before it can sting.

Then comes Beau, confident, magnetic, British, and for a moment everything Nick thought he wanted. But when Beau's shame about being seen in public with him surfaces, Nick is forced to confront why he keeps attracting the wrong guy.

With help from his sharp-tongued queer friends, multiple therapists, and a few brutal epiphanies, Nick begins to realize that the love he has been chasing all along doesn't come with a British accent and a side of abs.

Glossy enough to laugh at.

Real enough to hurt a little.

Comedy and drama intertwine.

Laughter breaks tension. Heartbreak reveals humor.

A Note From the Director

“It's a story about finally seeing yourself clearly.”

This story is deeply personal. It's about the courage it takes to be seen, not just by someone else, but by yourself. We're making a film that reflects experiences rarely centered in gay cinema, with humor, heart, and the kind of honesty that comes from lived experience.

In Between should feel like if Love, Simon met I Feel Pretty. Glossy enough to laugh at, real enough to hurt a little. Everyday settings, apartments, bars, therapy offices, shot with a warm, natural lens that celebrates imperfections and intimacy, while keeping it poppy enough to live in the romcom space.

The camera lives close to Nick: handheld, imperfect, intimate. The color palette begins confident and bright, fading into softer, quieter hues as Nick begins to heal. It's a story about finally seeing yourself clearly, in a mirror, in love, and in between.
